What To Bring

What To Bring
The key to a great fashion swap is having great items to choose from. The better quality clothing and accessories, the happier everyone is in the end. When going through your closet, take a good hard look at what you have. Do you have great items that are just sitting there, waiting for that "perfect day"? How about ones that you aspire to fit into again, but it just isn't happening? These clothes make great candidates for swapping.

Have you ever bought some clothes on a whim, and then when you got home, tried them on but they weren't quite what you expected...tags still on? Have you ever intended on returning something only to have lost the receipt or went over the 30 day time period? How about those gifts that were given to you with the best of intentions only to find their way deep in your closet, never to be worn? These are all perfect items to swap!

Maybe you have clothing that has been worn a couple of times and looks and feels like new. If you get bored of your clothes easily chances are you have a lot of items like these. It's time to swap them.

There's no need to hold onto these items, they're just taking up space and bogging you down. Now you can swap them for stuff you'll actually wear, today. For no money! Isn't that awesome?

Give your closet some breathing room and let your unworn treasures see the light of day, you'll get value in the form of swap tokens for each and every great item you bring in. So go on, take a good look in your closet, see what you can find.

Six to twelve of your best items

When you go through your wardrobe, see if you can find  6-12 great items; you'll be surprised how easy it actually is. Don't forget those accessories too! Handbags, scarves, hats and other accessories are great additions and add to the uniqueness of the swap.

Items that will be most suitable for swapping include:

  • Items that are new (with tags on)
  • Worn once or twice (almost new)
  • Gently worn (looks and feels like new)
  • Fashionable garments (current styles and trends).
  • Quality garments

Please ensure that all clothing is freshly laundered, cleaned and hung on a donatable plastic hanger. Thank you in advance

What shouldn't I bring?

  • Garments should not have holes or be ripped
  • Garments with stains will not be accepted
  • Garments that are broken or damaged should be repaired or otherwise donated
  • Garments should not have balls or peels.
  • Garments that smell of animals, dust, mold, or smoke are not showing other swappers respect
  • Garments of a delicate and private nature such as underwear, lingerie and swim wear should be left at home
  • Sorry,  we are not accepting footwear of any kind for this swap
Garments will be "checked-in" and exchanged for swap tokens at one of the early drop-off locations or on the day of the event.

What to do with your "unswappables"?

As you are cleaning out your closets, feel free to donate your unswappable and charitable clothing and accessories. The Bissell Center and the Canadian Diabetes Association will be on-site to collect any garments donated to those who can use them. Donations bins will be on-site if you wish to simply donate clothing items to our associated charities.
